A SPECIAL event to thank carers for their hard work and achievements took place at a care home in Powys.
The Grove in Ystradgynlais held a celebration to mark the achievements of its staff throughout the pandemic, recognizing three in particular for their long service. Wylma Jones, a domestic assistant, started working at The Grove in 1990, Anita Fyfield is a support worker who started working for the house in 1996 and Sian Ashill has been a night shift worker for 24 years. The Powys home also celebrated Joe Jenkins for taking on the managerial job amid the pandemic.
They received certificates to mark their impressive milestones and each member of staff received a chocolate gift as a thank you for their continued commitment.
The home, which is operated by Shaw Healthcare on behalf of Powys County Council, welcomed Brecon and Radnorshire MP Fay Jones to join in the celebrations, while Senedd Member for the Area James Evans sent a thank you letter to the home team, congratulating them for their commitment and hard work.
Service manager Mr Jenkins said: ‘I couldn’t be more proud of the team here and how everyone has pulled together over the past two years.
“It has been a difficult time both professionally and personally and everyone has done what they have to do for our residents and each other. I am delighted that they are recognized for all that they do here.
“It’s been wonderful to bring people back to the house and we look forward to more events with the local community over the summer months.”
The Grove provides residential care for up to 30 residents, including people with dementia.
