Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools (RDCRS) has solidified a partnership with the Red Deer Child Care Society to provide child care at Maryview School and St. Teresa of Avila School, which aligns with the RDCRS preschool center model.
This service is open to children in pre-kindergarten programs. Approximately 15 to 20 child care spaces will be available for registration.
The Red Deer Child Care Society is ensuring that parents applying for child care at Maryview School and St. Teresa of Avila School will be able to access the Child Care Subsidy to compensate the costs.
“We look forward to being able to provide child care services to our pre-kindergarten students,” says Kathleen Finnigan, superintendent of Catholic Regional Schools in Red Deer. “We hope this will provide some flexibility for parents and their schedules with the availability of before and after school care.”
The Pre-K hub model supports pre-K students with designated programming in a “hub model” setting, located in two of the schools in the RDCRS division: one on the north and one on the far end south of Red Deer. It offers a strong early learning experience and high quality programming for young students.
Transportation to Pre-Kindergarten Hub schools will include a one-way bus ride for pre-kindergarten students (for example, if a student is in the morning program, they will be bused to school, and if a student participates in the afternoon program, they will be taken home after school).
Information on the registration process will be published in the coming weeks.
