Skanska is renovating and expanding an acute care center for a hospital in Virginia, USA, for $78 million, or approximately SEK 720 million

ÖSTERSUND, Sweden, April 4, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Skanska has signed a contract with Bon Secours – St. Francis Medical Center, Inc. to renovate and expand an acute care facility in Midlothian, Virginia, UNITED STATES. The contract is worth $78 millionon SEK 720 millionwhich will be included in the order intake in the United States for the first quarter of 2022.

The expansion aspect of the project includes a two-storey vertical addition above the existing second-floor surgery department. The new third floor will house a medical-surgical nursing unit with observation rooms and the new fourth floor will be used for intensive care beds and neonatal intensive care rooms.

As part of the renovation of the existing building, a former intensive care unit will be renovated to accommodate an observation unit. The fourth floor of the adjacent building will be reconfigured to accommodate a new mother-child unit. Other renovations will include a new retail pharmacy, MRI room, restaurant for doctors and improvements to the central plant.

Construction has started December 2021and completion is scheduled for April 2024.
